Police Arrest 2 Teens Suspected In Santa Cruz Gas Station Robbery

SANTA CRUZ (CBS SF) — Two juveniles were arrested following an attempted armed robbery at a gas station in Santa Cruz early Saturday morning, according to police.

Two armed suspects entered the Valero gas station at 1516 Soquel Ave. around 12:15 a.m. and attempted to rob the clerk at gunpoint, according to Deputy Chief Steve Clark.

The clerk, however, fled the office, locked the door and called 911.

The would-be robbers fled in a vehicle, and the clerk was not injured.

While Santa Cruz police were searching for the robbery suspects, Watsonville police located a vehicle that had been taken in a carjacking in Watsonville Friday night, Clark said.

After apprehending the occupants of the car, they found evidence consistent with the Santa Cruz robbery, Clark said. Two handguns were recovered in a search of the vehicle that are thought to have been used in the robbery.
